Can Toyota Unlock My Car?

If you regularly find yourself locking your keys in your car it can get expensive really quickly to keep calling a locksmith. Of course leaving a spare somewhere is an option but what if you are out of town or don’t have access to the spare for whatever reason.

Can you call Toyota and have them unlock your car?

Authorized personnel from Toyota can unlock your car in some cases. However, there are many technical details your car must meet for Toyota to be able to unlock your car.

Toyota can’t unlock your car if it has no auto-electric systems that allow for remote unlocking. If your car is a relatively new model that can connect to the internet and work with a keycard, there are greater chances of Toyota being able to unlock your car.

Even in those circumstances, it’s more likely that Toyota will help you unlock your car instead of unlocking it. You will have to share your details with the operator, and they’ll walk you through the process of unlocking the car from your parking lot.

We’re met with new technologies every day, and technologies that let you enter your car are no different. The method in which the car owner uses a key to unlock the car door and get into your car is being slowly replaced by apps.

Like other car manufacturers, Toyota has also made this facility available to their customers. If you’re wondering if this means that Toyota can unlock your car at any time, this isn’t true.

Toyota needs your permission to get into your car. Furthermore, if you have a car that isn’t connected to the internet or doesn’t have an infrared remote, chances are Toyota can’t get into your car.

You would have to take your car into a shop so that they can unlock it for you or call a locksmith to have them help you access your vehicle.

How Do I Get Into My Locked Toyota?

If you’re asking if Toyota can unlock your car, there is a pretty good chance that you have a Toyota (genius right?). Afterall, if your car isn’t a Toyota, Toyota personnel cannot unlock it for you.

So the question is, how do I get into my Toyota? Well, if you own a relatively new Toyota, getting back into it can be easier than you may think.

Firstly, you can get in your car using your key fob. The key fob that comes with newer Toyotas can unlock your car and even start the engine. It’s the most important device that lets you into your car.

However, you may lock your key fob inside on accident so how can you get into your vehicle in that case?

Toyota  has recently released a new app that you can download directly on your phone for the newer Toyota owners. All you have to do to gain access to your car is download Toyota Entune™ Remote Connect App and use that to unlock your car.

This app also lets you find your vehicle in a crowded parking spot. You can also use the app to monitor any guest drivers who borrow your car and check the vehicle status using your smartphone.

The best part is all you need to do is have this app downloaded and activated to gain remote entry into your car.

How To Use The Entune™ 3.0 Remote Connect To Unlock Your Toyota

The app lets you have easy access to the car, but does that mean that Toyota can unlock your car? No, but they can help you unlock your car if you call the Toyota support center.

You could also just download the Toyota car app, so you don’t have to contact Toyota to request access.

Below I will give you a step-by-step guide of what you’ll have to do with your mobile app and how exactly to use it.

1. Download the Entune™ 3.0 Remote Connect on your Android or iOS device

2. Register Your Vehicle Online with the Toyota Owners; they’ll do this via email.

3. You’ll receive a verification code on your email; you have to input that code into the app for verification.

4. Select the Toyota Entune™ 3.0 Infotainment System APPS Menu

5. Select Communication on the Toyota Entune™ 3.0 Touchscreen Display

6. Select the Remote Service Icon

7. Enter Your 6-Digit Code

8. Select Submit

Once your app is activated, you have to select your vehicle and look at its status. You can then use the app to unlock the car or even start it.

You can press and hold the unlock button on your car, and this will unlock your car. Voila! You can now enter your car.

If you want to start your car, you can also press and hold the start button, which will start it. The engine will be on for 10 minutes unless you get in and start driving.

This feature works perfectly for a cold morning when you need to heat up your car to get it going.

Furthermore, if you’re unsure if your Toyota is locked or not, you can also check the status of your vehicle using the app. I would recommend that you activate your Toyota app as soon as you possibly can to allow you to unlock your car in case of an emergency.

Benefits Of A Digital Key

The app that Toyota uses helps the user have access to the car remotely. There are many benefits to such a mechanism. I will cover some of these below:

1. Compatibility

Digital Key uses Bluetooth Low Energy, which is available on every major smartphone and thus accessible to everyone.

2. Practicality

It can be integrated into any iOS or Android system, which means a customer won’t have to do the whole keys-phone-wallet dance and can leave with their phones as it becomes an easy access to their world.

3. Flexibility

Digital Keys can be made safer by limiting their access to only a few vehicle features, such as locking/ unlocking doors or trunks. This way, they can be safe to distribute for a variety of uses.

Final Thoughts

Toyota cannot unlock your car without your permission. Unlocking your car becomes even harder when it’s a model that can’t connect to the internet.

When your car meets all the conditions for unlocking, Toyota is more likely to provide you assistance so that you can access your car instead of doing it themselves.

Toyota has already released the Toyota Entune™ 3.0 app for multiple remote functions, and Toyota car owners can register themselves on it to use its remote locking and unlocking feature.

You don’t have to pay extra or put in any extra effort to get into your car via the app. It’s a way for Toyota to provide you with a digital key right on your phone.
